Today is the national day of prayer May 3rd, 2012 but, it is also the 8th anniversary of my little sisters accident. On May 3rd, 2004 my little sister, Abigail Faith Vara, suffered a terrible accident that no child nor parent should ever have to suffer. She was found at the bottom of our swimming pool in Honolulu, HI by my cousin who was living with us at the time. Abby was dead for almost an hour as paramedics attempted to revive her and as a result she suffered a massive brain injury altering her life and the life of my family forever. I was 11 years old when my sister drowned and it has both been a bad and good thing. I am not happy that she got hurt but, I try not to wonder what life would be like if she had never drowned because it only makes me feel sad. However, Abby is ver smart girl today even though she is practically a quadriplegic. A few things to know about her is that her favorite color is purple and everything can be purple is purple. She has a puppy named Panda and a cat named Grace who always love snuggling with her when she is resting or sleeping. She is also very vocal even though she cant speak. If she could speak, I think she would ask you to pray for her, children, and adults who suffer from the same condition as her. But, since she can’t ask that I am asking that for her.
